• Te Awapuni Meeting The Awapuni Women 's InBtitute held their October meeting on Wedn©3day, when Mrs L. Gordon presid^d. After tho aspirationa had been read business was attended to. Mrs Harper gave a report on tho hali'-yearly coiincil meeting at Greenmeadows. Mrs Otene, who gained second equal in the miniature garden competition at the Spring Show, was congratulated on her efforts. Mrs T. Wil|iams gave a helpful lecture on welfare, work among the Maoris in the northern district and it wag decided to send £5 to help with, thqt work. The usual bring-and-buy sal^s table did good business. The competition for the month was a vegetable salad, judged by Miss Macrae, the winners being Mrs Otene 1, Mre Moki 2, Mrs Gordon 3. It was announced that the next meeting would be held at Mrs Harper 's home, Elwood road, the competition to be best arranged bowl of flowere. The meeting closed with the singing of tho National Anthem.
