Mr Horace Reeves, of Hastings, left tliis niorning on a visit to Auckland. Mr. D. W. Hursthouse and Mr. E. Traill returned to Hastings tb-day from Taupo. Mrs C. r. Eggie, of Day's Bay, Wellington, is on a holiday visit to Napier. Mr T. E. Young, goods clerk at the Napier railway Office, lias been tran3ferred to Auckland. Sir Charles Norwood, of 'Wellington, wko recently underwent an operation, is not xnaking the recovery that was expected. Mrs J. Rankine, of Ellice Avenue, Wellington, motored through to Napier yesterday, where she will spend a week's holiday. Sir Alexander Herdman and Lady Herdman are visiting the Continent. They intend to spend the winter in the South of Franee. Mr M. G. C. McCaul, president of the Associated Chambers of Commerce, left Wellington last night to attend tho annual conference at Timaru this week. Mr W. E. Leadley, president of the Christchurch Eeturned Soldiere' Aaso-. ciation, has been appointed temporarily as Dominion organiser for the Soldiers' Givil Ke-establishment League. Sir Alexander Roberts has been reelected chairman of tlie Couneil of the New Zealand Golf Association. Mr. W. A. Kiely has ' been elected vicechairman. Mr F. J. Carter, Wellington Dioeesan treasurer, will retire on December 21 after 33 years' service. Mr S. T. C. Sprott has been appointed Dioeesan secretary and registrar. , Mr J. MacDonald, stationmaster at Napier, has been transferred to Wellington aa chief clerk in the commercial branch. Mr A. Orton, business agent at Wellington, will succeed Mr MacDonald at Napier. Captain A. Bongaafd, who has held the position of Area Officer in charge of the 6th Regimental District with headquarters at Palmerston^North, left yesterday for Dunedin, where he will undertake the duties of staff area officer. The appointment of the Bev. R. George Coate, vicar of St. Luke'e Parish, Mt. Albert, as Canon of St. Mary's Cathedral, Auckland, is announced. The appointment was made to fill the vacancy caused by the elevation of Canon Fancourt to be Dean of the Cathedral.
