Monthly Meeting of Committee * The monthly meeting of the Parkvale School Committee wa? held on Monday, Mr J. Stickland presiding pvor Messrs T. H. Rapley, H. Spence, D. Henderson, J. K. Davidson, J. H. Philpott, H. Cameron (hon. eec.) and W. B. Roe (headmaster). Tho chairman reported that he had interviewed Mr R. Holt regarding the amount outstanding against the baths and Mr Holt had offered to reduce tho amount to £15, payable in three yearly instalments. A letter of thanks and acceptance is to be sent. The offer of fMr Tlenders m to instal the electric lighting li the baths was aceepted ivith thanks. The Hawke's Bay Education Board advised that a grant had been made of £10 for the purcbase of books for the school library, and the headmaster was authorised to purcbase same. Tt was decided to follow the same procedure as adopted in recent years regarding Christmas gifts for the primers and other school prizes. On the recommendation of the headmaster it was decided to hold Parents' Day on December 2, and that a meeting be held to-morrow week of the ladies to enable arrangements to be made for the provision of afternoon tea. "The school has been placed on a higber grade and is now entitled to anotker assistant, or rather, probation-ary-assistant," said the heaumasrer in his report, "The attendance is. still only fair, oiving to sickness. The toli stands at 403. The department insptctors visited .the school last week and their report will come to hand xn due course." On .the suggestion of the headmasr ter it was decided- to - erect the* sign beariug the school's name over- the pergola at the main entrance of the school. * -
