Wellington Prosecutions ONE MAN FINED £25

WELLINGTON, Last Night. Three men were charged in the PolLce Court to-day with obtaining sums of money from the Employment Promotion Fund by means of false pretences. Albert Edwards waa fraed £3, with costs 10/-. on a charge of obtaining £1 15/-. Mate Jelcich faced three charges of obtaining sums totalling £6 8/2 on each charge was fined £3, with 10/- costs. Henry Riehard Collietr had to answer six charges of the same nature, the amount involved being £7 12/-. In fines and costs Coliier has to find £10 10/-. William Scally was charged that, being the recipient of sustenance allowance under the Employment Promotion Act, he made 18 false decIaratioDs of weekly income, thereby obtaining £20 17/6 to whiclx he was not entitled. Counse] said that Scally had so-ved enough to repay the excess and that it had been offered to the department who said that they would have to take a prosecution. Counsel added that the accused was in bad health and incapable of filling in a form properly. Scally was fined £25 with costs 10/'.
