to the spring meeting of the Poverty Bay-Turf Club to pilot Sybil Song to victory in the two hurdle races on the programme, then at the summer meeting Jazz King was successful in the two jumping events with Lord on his back. At the winter meeting again saw Lord winning the two hurdle races, but this time on Begorrah? while last week-end again be takes the trip on to bring Mahala hoine firet past tho post both days thus in eight success- 1 ive hurdle races in the Poverty Bay district Lord has won tbe lot, a feat that he rnust be justly prpud of morebo as tbtee of tbn double events, .On Sybil Song, Begorrah and Mahala proved to be their only euccesSes over hurdles to date. Some years back this horseman forsook the racing game to follow another vocation in life. For the best part of six years Lord took up harrier racing as his sport and quickly proved to b© perhaps, the best harrier in the district, to more than once annex the Hawke's Bay championship as well as repreSenting his distriGt at the New Zealand championships. The New Zealand Racing Conference once again granted him a jockey's licencej since when he has enjoyed a very marked run of success. Physical fitness has played a big part in this success but at the same time this borseman has riding ability, also being gifted with a cool nerve and judgment.
