In the recent terms examination for students of Auckland University College, Mr. T. Taylor, M.A., son of Mr. T. Taylor, Takapau, passed in all . eubjectg for' the Diploma of Education. Mr. Taylor, who is teaching at Bartletts, Poverty Bay, is an external student of the collego, Another son of Mr. T. Taylbr, Mr. J. Warren Taylor, who is a student at .the Auckland Teachers' Training Oollego, passed in Geology, Physics and Chemistry for the second, section of the B.Sc. fegree. Mr. G. W. Merrylees, proprietor of the Club Hotel, Dannevirke, has sold the lease of ihe premises to Mr. G. W, Keller, of Hokitika, who takes posses'sion on Novemher 15. Mr. and Mrs, Merrylees, who havs been residents of Dannevirke for the past 27 years, have not yet decided upon their future intentions, but they propose taking an extended holiday before eettling down again, Mr, A. J. Ayres, of Dannevirke, has been appointed judge of saddle horses, hunters and coinpetitions at the Canterbury jubilee A. and P. sliow, which opens at Christchurch next week. Mr. and Mrs. F. Palairet, formerly of Gisborne, who, for several years, have been residing in various parts of the Coinmonwealth, arrived in. Dannevirke yesterday? to spend six weeks with their son, Mr. Allan Palairet, of the sfaff of the Union Bank. They will later go on to Gisborne. Mr> L. Stein, chairman of the Dannevirke Hospital Board, entered hospital on Saturday for a rest and treatment. Mr anrl Mrs Olaf Nikolaison, who have been residents of Ormondville for rnahy years, left during the week-end i'or Morrinsville, where they will in future reside. Mr P. A. Lowe postmaster at Wairoa, who has been promoted to the position of postmaster at Dannevirke is to take over his new duties this week. Mrs James Hclean, formerly a resident o.f Wairoa, has returned from Gisborne to take up her residence. Mr and Mrs Eoy Turner have returned to Auckland after spending a week in Wairoa. The death occurred in Auckland on Sunday of Mr David Clark, fatlier of Sergeant D, Clark, of Wairoa, aged 83.
