GUILD MUSIC CIRCLE HAVE SUCCESSFUL EVENING

An exceptionally jolly and friendly evening was enjoyed by all who attended the reeent meeting of the musie circle of the Hastings Townswomen's Guild when about 70 members and visitors were present. A most delightful musieal programme was givea by the members of the Napier Guild music circle and the evening -was very much appreeiated by the Hastings members. The guests were welcomed by Miss McHutehon, the leader of the Hastings circle, who presented a charming posy made by Mrs. Young to Mrs. Rosewarne, th'e Napier circle leader. Mrs. Rosewarne is a remarkably good entertainer apart from her outstanding musieal ability and it was due in no small measure to her efforts that the evening was so sjiccessful. The greater part of the enteftainment was given by t'he choir who appeared several times and were eneored eaeh time. They sang several delightful part songs, several old melodies with new words and also some nursery rhymes. A touch of humour was included in the prograivme in the eloeutionary items given by Mrs. O. 'Halloran and a soloist with a most beautiful contralto voiee whose items were thoroughly enjoyed was Mrs. Nixon. Mrs. Drury sang Gaelic. songs, and voeal duets weT0 given by Mesdames Sorrell and Smith while Mrs. and Miss Wood gave piano duets. Other soloists were Mesdames Carrol, Dagg, Baggitt and Rawlinson and every item which they gave was very much enjoyed. A delicious supper, arranged by the cirele secretary, Mrs. Y. L. Westerman, was later handed round. Miss McHutchon thanked the visitors very much for giving such a delightful evening and the guild president, Mrs! A. F. Glenny, also expressed the appreeiation of all present. Before . departing . everyone, joined iiands and sang ' ' Auld Lang Syne."
