Borough Council Considers Proposals DEVELOPING BEACONS 'DROME / ■ 1 Consideration of definite proposals, together with 'costs, of the plan for an airport at Napier, was given in committee last evening by the Napier Borough Oouheil. Jull details ef the proposals were placed before the council by the Napier Airport Board, The Airport Board re.quested the council to make application to the Napier Harbour BOard for the area of approximatley 520 acres shown on the plan, which is according to the recommendation of Wing-Oommander E. A, Gochrane, In addition, however, -the council was asked to endeavOur to retain the lease of theembankment aerodrome for the remainder of the term,. with a yicw to its- use in pronioting aviatioii hiid for recreatiohal faeilities. Letters were enclosed from the Cohtroller of Civil Aviatioh, forwarding a plan of the area reserved, and showing the' suggested layout of the field, includihg buildings and runways, to- . gether with a plan of the afeas which ' will require to come under a proclamation restrCting the height of obtsrlictions to fiying. A lettef was also enclosed from the Small Farms Board, agreeing to> releaso approximately 520 acres from the development scheme on tho area for an aerodrome, provided that the airport board: — (1) Arranges fer a contribution in capitai of £6485 0/11, being the estiihated proportion of the tatai capitai reClamation and development costs Which Should be earried by this area. (2) Would pay an annual inaintenance cost of £248 10/-, beittg the estimated amount for roading and drainage maintenance. (3) Would impose no reStnction 'on the erection of telelione yr (power lines on the internal roads Unle&s it agreCs to bear t'he additional cost of putting such services undergrotmd. Oosts for fencing and a cattle stop and gate on tho main road frontage is infilude d in the sum of £64§5, but, the letter added, if there is auy delay in finalising matters, additional costs for boundary fencing, cultivation and pasture establishment, will have to'be added
