Hastings Readings Show * Heavier Fall TEN FROSTS RECORDED Rain was recorded in Hastings on 10 j days last month, the total rainfall for I the period being 2.09 inches,' compared j with 1.12 inches in October of last year. The total rainfall for the past I 10 months has been 18.37 inches. ! | In his monthly report, Mr H. N. j Fowler, Government meteological observer at Hastings, stat.es that rain [■ was recorded as follows last month: — j October 9th, -.05in.; 12th, .02in.; 13th, I ,02in.; 15th, .04in.; 16th, .Olin.; 23 rd, J .78in.; 24th, .09in.; 25th, .83in.; 26th, J .Olin.; 27th, .24in. Total, 2.09 inches." f The maximum temperature, * in the I sereen, was 74.6 degrees, tha mean j inaximum being. 63 degress,- and the j iowest minimUm was 32 degrees with a mean mimiinum of -43 degrees. The lowest grass recording was 5 24 degrees and mean grass temperaturje was 35.4 degrees. The range of temperature for j the month was 20 degrees and the I mean temperature 53 degrees. There were 10 frosts recorded during the period under review. Pretvailing winds were N.N.ES. on I six days, E.S.E. on five days} S on 13 J days and W.S.W. on seven. GLENCOE RECOEDINGS. A total of 2.40 inches was recorded by Mr L. Maclean, of Glencoe Station, last monht, this being almost half-an-inch less ^ than during Oetober of last year. The total for the 10 months to date this year is nearly 10 inches less than "was the case for the correspouding period . last year when thc recordmgs aggregated over 36 inches. • Details of last month 's recordings are as follow: — October 9th, ,04in.j 13th, .04in.; 14th, .Olin.; 15th, .10in.; 16th, .03in.; 23rd, .72in.; 24th, .30in.; 25th, .84in.; 26th, .03in.; 27th, .24in.; 29th, ,05in.
