Journalists Thrown off Their Feet (Received 1, 9.30 a.m.)' SHANGHAI, Oct. 81. The journalist Mr W. Farmer, of the North China Daily News and formerly a member of the staff of a West Australian newspaper, together witl? the news editor, Mr A. P. Finch, weni on to the roof this morning to "spot" the Japanese attack on the Chinese "suieide battalion." ; A shell roared overhead and fell into the Whangpoo river; a second hit the chaTtered bank next door; and then both were blown ofi: their feet by tho explosion of another shell, which hit the building. They remained reeumbent while two others hit, after which they went below. Mr Farmer' was not hurfc._ Mr Finch was slightly wounded.
