Havelock Man to Rescue Of Boy haumoana incident Some excitement was caused at Haumoana yesterday afternoon when a canoe, with two boys aboard, eapsized and an eye-witness jumped fully clothed to rescue one of the lads who appeared to be in difficulties. The mishap occurred near the jetty wharf as the boys were about to land after a cruise along the coast-line and round the river mouth. They were just turning the craft in towards the wharf when it overturned and the two occupants, one of whom was in his everyday clothes, Were emptied into the water. Mr. J. Joll, of Havelock North, witnessed the capsize and, realising that the boy in street clothes would be hindered and endangered, jumped into tlie water and recovered him. Meanwhile the other lad, who was in a bathing suit, gained shore without any difficulty. ' It is uflderstood- that both boys were able to swim a little.
