The Hon. H. A. Russell, M.L.C., left Hastings this morning for Wellington. Dr. J. L. Frazerhurst has resigned his position of medical superintendeut of the Whakatane Hospital and intends to leave Whakatane about the end of the year. Mr* J. L. Griffin, of Wellington, chairman of direetors of the FullerHayward Theatre Corporation, Limited, has returned by the Orion from a seven months' trip to Europe, accompanied by Mrs. Griffin. Mr. A. L. Lewis, airport manager in Auckland for Pan-American Airways, and Mr. Frank McKenzie, Pacilic division manager for the same company, arrived on Friday from San Francisco. Mr. G. A Maddison, Mayor of Hastings, left by tlie raail train this morning for Wellington, where he will interview various Government departmental officers regarding borough matters. Mr. L. T. Robexts, who has been a Solicitor on the staff of the Hastings branch of the Public Trust Office for the past six years, and who is at present .secretary or the Hastings branefl of-tie Red Cross Society, has received •lC'tice of ^laisfer to the Auck'aud branch of the Public Trust OJhce, where he will commence duties early i:i the Now Year.
Mr. C. R. Keeble, who has been deputy registrar of lands from time to time over the past few years and in charge of the Auckland Office since January this year, has retired after 44 years service. Mr. Keeble entered the service of the department at the age of 16 and has . carried out his work in the same building in Courthouse lane ever since. Born in Napier in 1877) Mr. Keeble was educated at the Bishop's school, Nelson. When he joined the Land and Deeds Department in 1893 there were only six members on the staff.
Mr. R. L. McNiven, secretary of the Hastings Golf Club, has accepted the office of secretary of the Auckland Golf Club and will. be taking up his new duties after New Year. Mr. McNiven has proved himself a very popular and efficient secretary for the Hastings club during the two years he has held the office and his departure will be regretted by not only club members but players generally in this district. Prior to coming to Hastings four years ago Mr. McNiven was club captain at Wanganui for a number of years and was later in Nelson. Since coming to Hastings he has been captain for a year and secretary for two years, taking over the latter office upon the retiremenl of Mr. E. A. Murley.
