Address To Be Given Toi Historical Society i The. Hastings Historical Society wili hold its nest meeting in the Methodist Hall, opposite the0 Municjpal Theatre, nest Monday at 8 p.m. The speakea for thig meeting is the noted Maori •politician, scholar, and orator, Sir Apirana T. Ngata, M.A., LL.B., M.P., who will speak on the "Ngati Kahungunu Origins." This is the Maori tribe that is at present located in the Hawke's Bay area Its past history is something that is known only to a select few. Th« origin of the tribe, how it came to bt identified with Hawke's Bay, its relar tionship to other Maori tribes throughout New Zealand especially with the Ngati Porpus of the East Coast, are aspects wnich are little known to the ordinary man. This lecture will take the listener* right back to pre-European days and the history of the noble Ngati Kahu' ngunu will bo unfolded. In view of the fact that the meeting is almost sure t© be well patroniae3 the society has decided to engage % bigger hall than the on© it usualb!
