Thousands of Basque civilians havif been executed since General Francp occupied North Spain, according to the' London delegate of the Basque Government, Senor Don Jose Beliasa, in a statement issued through the Spanish Embaesv. * - He said that those executed includq 600 Government and army officers and also 27 women refugees recently patriated from France. Thirty thousand men and women noncombatants had been imprisoned without trial. Twenty-flve thousand Basque soldiera had surrendered in the last stages on conditions that civilians would not be
moleisted and that the soldiers would not be forced to fight for General Franco, but these conditions had not been kept. Qver 2000 Basque priests had been banished or imprisoned, and a number were believed to have been executod.
