AUCKLAND, Last Night. The new Consul-General for the United States, Mr Lowell C. Pinkerton, arrived by the Mariposa and leaves this evening for Wellington. A Missourian with a slight Southern accent, and of genial personality, Mr. Pinkerton said that when he heard that his predecessor was leaving New Zealand he hoped it might be his good fortune to come. "For that reason," he added, "I am very happy to be here."
