WELLINGTON, Last Night. The first overseas cruise ship of th« season, the Orient linor Orion, arrived at Auckland from Brisbane this afteruoon with 861 passengers, the majority being tourists from tho five Australian ports at which she had called on her way out from England. Beautiful Weather gave the hhndreds of passen-' gers an excellent impression of the city, and they crowded the rails to enjoy the. view. The Tourist Department and other travel agencies had a large fleei; of service cars, buses and motor-cars in readiness. Not quite half the passengers had booked trips to Rotorua and 'further afield, the others being content with sightseeing in and near Auckland and Wellington.' Fifty-five left in tlio afternoon on a four-day overland ttfur of the Waitomo caves, the thermal regions, National Park "and Wanganuh A "further 2Q doparted by road for Rotorua, intendiug.to return to Auckland to-morrow night. To-morrow morning 250 will make a one-day trip to Rotorua, 150 by rail and the remainder by car. A- further 100 are to leave on three-day trips to the thermal region and Wellington, 80 trfivelling by way of National Park and 20 via Napier.
