Makaraka Handicap To De Friend BONNIE SONG'S SURPRISE

GISBORNE, Last Night. The meeting of the Poverty Bay Turf Club opened in dull weather, the racing being held on the Makaraka course after an absence of some years, during which the meetings were held on the Park racecourse, but the latter has now been declared a domain. The ground was slightly heavy after the recent rains. The totalisator put through #5556, as against £4276 last year— an increase of £1280.
