COMMISSIONER'S LETTER
Dear Scouts,— Congratulatious to all of you who helped to make the Handicraft Exhibition such a success. I don't think there was quite so' much stuff as laat year, but the quality was definitely better. Also I think more fellows were working, which is indeed a good sign. Several Troops were working a hundred per cent. It is small credit to a Troop or Pack if one fellow does nearly all the work, and the others'look on. We have no room for slackera in Scouting. I am sorry that when I presented fhe trophy to the Napier South Troop I quite forgot to mention the Cubs. Yqu will remember that last year, when lyfr. Maddison handed the Scout trophytp Frimley, he said that he would Hke to present a trophy for the Cubs. The 0qb people were asked what kind of -a trophy they would like, and they decided on a tiger-skin — the skin of Shere Khan. This has been ordered from India, and we hope, will be herfl before the end of the year. As soon as it arrives it will be presented to the St. Augustine's Pack, whose work this year was very good indeed. Next year I hope more of you will try your hand at the cooking seotion. The standard this year was very good, but there were not enough of you try^ ing. I would like to see at least 1QQ, dampers next year, but I hope I don't have to judge rnd taste them alll I hope that those Troops that. did not exhibit will make a point of doing so next year. It is great fun to make things, and it is very interesting to compare them with things that other chaps have made. — Yours ever, "ROBIN HOO© "
