Napier Club's Past Year The annual report of the Napier Athletic Club, presented to the annual meeting last night, expressed gratification at the success which had attended the club's sports meetings during the year, of the interest aroused by the Japanese visitors, and outside competitors from other clubs of the high standard of performance attained in most of the events, of the success of the club's representatives in the the provincial cbainpionships and of the excellent form shown by the centre's representatives in the New Zealand championships. Congratulations were extendcd to all of the performers who had acquitted themselves so well. On behalf of tlie executive appreciation was expressed at the enthusiasm displayed by the active members of the club throughout the year, which had contributed greatly to the success of the club's meetings. It had been mentioned in the last annual report ifc was the aim of the executive with tha assistance of the active members to endeavour to increase the membership substantially, but, although many new members were registered the objective was defeated through the departurn from the town of many of the old members., "While it is not desired to striko a pessimistic note it must be realised by every member that unless the club remains numerically strong it cannot retain the high reputation which- it now enjoys and tho club makes this" request to tbo members that they .will honestly strive to introduce to the club at least one new -nieniber. _ -Ihe grateful thanks - of the committee are extended to Mrs Armer who, for many years now has had control of the ladies' section of tbe club, and under her supervision this section of the club remains strong. We an; grateful to the public for their continued supp'ort. "Once again the club wishes to tliapk 'the 'Press for' their liberal pubJicityj the St. Jobn Amhulance for unfailing attendance, the donors of the trophies, the Napier City Council, and superintendent of raserves, Mr C W. Corner and his staff, the trainers, and the honorary staff of tho public address system. "AjI of these have made possible the recording of another successful season. It is pleasing to note that tlie Greeui dale Cycling Club, the Napier Harrier Club and the Ladies' Basketball Club are progressing well. "For the ensuing season tlie club anticipates a continuatiou of successful meetings and it is expected that athletes from other centres will visit us during tlie Christmas attractions," the report concludes.
