(By Telegraph
WELLINGTON, This Day. The frenzied barking of a dog attracted the attention of a meniber of a Karori family a few days ago and investigation revealed a lizard shooting out its tongue at the dog and generally ghowing hostility. The lizard liad been hurt and the only thing to do was destroy it. At first it was thought that it was a tuatara, but some people to whom it was shown were einpliatie it waa stronger and their opinion was confirmed by Dr. Oliver, of the Dominion Museum, who identified it as a sealybacked or stump-tailed lizard of Australia. How it came to Karori nobody seems to know. It might, of course, have been in some ship's cargo, but strangcrs in the cargo are usually discovered at thc wharves before they have a chance of leaving.
