Moldavia to be Converted BRITISH ADMIRALTY'S ACTION (Eeceived 27, 8.45 a.m.) MELBOUENE. Oct. 26. The steamer Moldavia, which has arrived from London on its last voyage after 15 years in the Australian service, will have a new lease of life as an armed troopship. Officers of the liner etated that the owners had intende-d to sell the vessel to Japan, but when the negotiationa were in progress the British Admiralty stepped in and asked them to transfcr the Moldavia to the British India line for conversion to an armed troopship, The ship was designed for gucli an eventualitv when she wa® built in 1922. She has specially-strengthcned plating and shock-resisting emplacements for naval guns.
