BOYS AND EXAMINATIONS.
l "The examination is an academic one which can place no emphasis on a boy's personality and character. Boys fail to pass their certiflcate examination hecause, perhaps, they have no language sense, or are weak in mathematics, and if business men rule out such boys they will be losing some -who, because of character and innate commonsense, can be of real value to them. There must be examinations for the professions, and it should be the endeavour of every boy to leave school with the School Certiflcate at least. I urge parents, however, not to be discouraged if their boys have not the schojastic abiUty to pass .such an examinatioh so long as they kuow the value of hard work and can be depended upon to take a real interest in their jobs. There is a place and a need for such boys. I urge parehts not to sacriflce the education of their sons becanse a promising opening presents itself."—Mr H, Pearson, headmaster of Tettenhall College.
