AUCKLAND, Last Night. Sentenced to four years' hard labour in Wellington for forging £5 banknotes, Charles Alfred Bemmere, aged 49^ carpenter, had another year added to the original sentence by Mr Justice Eair in the Supreme Court this morning when he appeared on three charges of uttering forged notes and one of attempting to utter a note. He will now serve a total of five years on forgery and uttering charges. rThe judge said there seemed to be no necessity for the defendant to commit the offences. He had been in constant work as a carpenter but appeared to prefer a different type of life.
