Safety wrenches that will not cause sparks wlien struclc against metal surfaces have been introduced in the United States for use in skop and factories whore inflamaiable gas or explosive materials form a constant hazard. Made of an alloy of copper and beryllium, the tools are inanufactured in a variety of sizes, and are said to be practically as strong as conventional carbon-steel types. The "sparkless" wrenches are also nonmagnetic and non-corrosive, it is claimed. Jewellery to the value of some hundreds of pounds was found by the Ljubljana (Jugo-Slavia) police concealed in the wooden leg of a poorly dressed man, whose lavish expenditure attracted their attention. Some of the jewels have been identified as bolonging to the Church of the Blessed Virgin at Split. This sacrilegious robbery has caused great indignation among the Slovenians, who are all Eoman Catholics.
