Elliott Beats Home-Douglas in Final PLAY IN THE RAIN The annual championship tournament of the Maraenui Golf Club was held during the week-end and though the qualifying rounds were played in gloriously fine weather on Saturday afternoon the remainder of the games were played under wet and unpleasant conditions, The title was won hy H. M, Elliott, who defeated G, L. Home* Douglas in the final played in continuqus rain. There was an excellent field, over 70 participating in the qualifying rounds and despite the change in the weather there were no defaults in the later rounds of any of the various events. At the conclusion of play yesterday aftemoon tho president, Mr John Mason, presented the trophies won during tho tournament and briefly reviewed the past season which had beon a partioularly sucoessful one for the club.
