AUCKLAND, Last Nigkt. Unable to locate Mangere Aerodrome in the gatkering darkness and a keavy rainstorm, C. E. Parker, pilot of an aeroplane kelong to tke Western Pederated Flying Club, New Plymoutk, made a successful forced landing in a paddock ketween Manurewa and Weymouth skortly before 7 o ;clock on Saturday night. Tke plane, a Gipsy Motk twoseater, took offi from New Plymoutb witk a passenger for Auckland skortly after 4 o'clock. A strong nortkerly wind Teduced tke air speed considerably and visibility was renaered poor by rain squalls encoimtered on tke trip, which is usually completed in about two hours. Darkness was fast settling over tke countryside wken tke machine neared Mangere and tke piiot 's difficulties were further inereased by keavy rain squalls. After circling over tke Weymouth district, wkick is on tke coast and not unlike Mangere Aerodrome site in configuration, tke pilot decided to make a landing in a paddock alongside the Manurewa-Weymoutk road. Tke gra'zing lands in tke locality are of undulating ckaracter, but Parker succeeded in gafely landing in a paddock on Mr V. Rogers' farm, Tke area of tke paddock In wkick tke mackine was set down fibout 150yds square. Two rows of telepkone and power line poles flank tke roadway on tke western side.
