Awatea's Record Crossing During the Awatea's recent record crossing of the Tasman, the chief engineer, Mr Ward, to test the vibration of the ship, which was travelling at 23 knots, . plaeed a glass, filled to within. one-eighth of an ineh of the top with water, and a two-shilling piece on the rail as far aft as possible and found that there was not a movement from - the coin or a ripple On the water in the glass. The ship was so steady throughout that Mesers I. Kelen and M. Szabados, the Hungarian tahle-tennis players, were able to give *an exhibitien that required considerahle accuracy. The days' runs for the voyage of 1#275 miles were: 5.37 p.m. Friday, October 1, to noon Saturday, 443 miles; noon Saturday to noon Sunday, 376 miles; noon Sunday to 11.05 p.m. Monday, 256 miles.
