WOMEN'S INSTITUTE

Otane Institute The monthly meeting of the Otane Women's Institute was presided over by Mrs. Thomas, in the absence of the president, Mrs. R.. H. Tod. Mrs. Neave, of Pukehou, gave an interesting demonstration on brasswork. A welcome was extended to a visiting former member of the institute, Mrs. Price, Kaiwarra, Arrangements for the children 's Christmas party were discussed. Afternoon tea was served by the hostosses, Mesdames MacDougall, Oram, Mills, Minto and Miss Minto. Winners of the eompetitions were: Flowers, best arranged. — Mrs. Spargo jun. 1, Mrs. Douglas 2, Mrs. Arnott 3. Coconut biscuits. — Mrs. Spargo jun. 1, Mrs. Ballard 2, Mrs. MacDougall 3.
