DRINKING EPIDEMIC
"Sigp of Warmer Weather,^ Says J.P. HASTINGS OFFENDERS ThrCe statutory first offenders for drunkennfss faced Mr F. C. Wilkinsi u, J,P., in the Hastings Poliee Court this morning, After being admonished, all weye poUvicted and dischairged. Two of the offenders were Irishmen and the third a Scotsman. "This one has only threepencq in his possession, but he is the most finaucial of the lot," remarked Senipr-Sergeanl G. Sivyer as the first of the trio steped into the dock. "I suppose they spent all their money at the show," said the presiding Justice. "Are these men strangera here ? " 'Well, no, they are not strangers," replled the Senior-Sergeant, "but thhre appears to haye been an epidemic of dfinking last night in Hastings. I don't know why."
