WAIPUKURAU, Last Night. The Central Hawke 's Bay Electric Power Board held its monthly meeting ln Waipukurau this morning. Mr A. C. Russell (chairman) presided over Messrs W. H. Rathbone, A. 0. Holms, A. W. G. Longley, R. A. Fraser, «M, Rya% F. Witherow, C. Pattison, W. A. Chambers, G. E. Fowler (secretarymanager) and G. L. Beer (inspectorengineer). Mr Fv Holt, Waipawa, wrote expressing his appreciation of the quick servica rendered by the board's officers when tho power at his house had failed recently due to a fault at a pole outside. — Received. Mr H. M. Christie, M.P., forwarded a letter he had received from the Hon. I1. Jones, Minister in Charge of Broadcasting, in conneetion with the board's roquest that Central Hawke's Bay should be considered as a sitq for the new radio station in Hawke's Bay. The letter stated that Opapa had been selected as the. most suitable site from the point of view of general coverage of Hawke's Bay. Neither Waipukurau nor Waipawa would have been suitable. — Received. The Waipukurau County Council was granted £5 towards river-protection work above the site of the board's concrete pole factory. A letter from tho New Zealand Electric Power Boards and Supply Authorities' Association advised that Hawke's Bay local bodies were exempted from petrol regulation price fixation, and could purchase at wholosale prices irrespective of quantity. : Mr Fowler pointed out that this would mean a saving to the board of £75 per annum. The secretary of the Waipawa Hospital Board authorised the use of the hospital boardroom, and offered any assistance that might be required. Letters from the chief electrical engineer., Wellington, and the telegraph engineer, Napier, agreed to tho extension at Otawhao and to Messrs Fletchor Eros., Waipawa. Accounts totalling £7,800 were passed for payinent.
