Man's Greeting to Arresting Constable PUBLIC SERVANT CHARGED THEFT

WHANGAREI, Last Night. "I'm glad that's over; I am just about played out and have had no food for two days. ' ' This wae the way a police ohicer was welcomed when, after a long hunt, Leonard Arthur Hetherington, aged 45, postmaster at Waihopai, was arrested by Constable Molloy at the Awanui bridge on Thursday on a charge Of having, wlrle a servant of the New Zealand Government, Stolen £170, the property of the Poetmaster-GeneTal. The accused came before Mr. W. Williams. J.P., in the Magistrate's Court at Kaitaia this morning and was remaiH.cd to appear in the Houhora Court.
