Meiubers of other clubs and intending members of the Hastings Lawn Tennis Club are invited to the opening of the club to-morrow, Saturday, October 23j when a progressive tournament will be conducted. The annual picnie and Labour Day sports will be held in Farndon Park on Monday. A most comprehensive pro-gram-mo ol! novelty competitions and sports has been arranged. A wealth of juvenile events, school relay races,basketball kuockout competitions, and national dancing will hold great fav-> onritism with the motliers and youngei; folk, while numerous A.A.A. events; both cycle and running, will appeal to registered athletes. A host of novice events for all classes has also been arTanged. A series of wrestling events in five classes will take .place, and there will be four greyhonnd racing events. A mouth-organ playing contest and a wood-ehopping exhibition will add interest to the day. Special trains and railway busses will run all day,, and the publie are notified that hot water, milk, tea and sugar are obtainable free. Tickets f-or the dauee reeital being presented in the Municipal Theatre, Hastings on Thursday next, October 28, by the Barrie School of Dancing, MlsseS The Hastings Plunket Society, for Grantham and Patston, are now on sale. whose funds the reeital is for, should get a good return. The reeital, which offers something entirely fresh, and ii also right away from the usual type of dance recitals, is worthy of a fnll house, the items including ballets by seniors which will alhbe of interest tcj , adulfcs, . ... »,
