SHOW SHOPPING
Good Business Reported in Hastings BIG CROWDS IN TOWN Proof, if sueh was required, that a big number of people from the country do combine their shopping with their pleasure outing was provided in Hastings yesterday morning when there was a big crowd of people iu the business area. Although it ia now aimost generally known that ahops in Hastings will close at 11 o'clock on "People's pay" of the show, tbe visitors to town continue to do their shopping before going on to the Show. Yesterday very few of the shops were able to close their stores at 11 o'clock because of the number of people about. Many did abide by the decision and closed their doors at the hour agreed upon, but it took them f ully 30 minutes before they could striotly say that business for the day was actually completed. Business generally during this week has been very good according to the inquiries made by a reporter this morning. Commencing last Saturday there was a pronounced impyovement in trade attd returns for Wednesday and yesterday morning are reported by many shopkeepers to compare more than favourably with those of previous years.
