Railway Organisations Merge

WELLINGTON, Last Night. As a result of several conferences keld during the year a fusion of thq railway organisations — the Railway Offif cers' Institute, the Engine-drivere, Firemen'a and Cleaners' Association and Railway Tradesmen's Association— has been effected in the formation of a National Council of Railwaymen. The amalgaination was finalised at a meeting held in Wellington last Tuesday and became operative from then. Mr E. Barnes was elected president and Mr S. Ingram secretary for the first term. One railway society (the A.S.R.S.) has not yet joined up with the National Council.
