(Received 21, 8.45 a.m.) BERLTN, Oct. 20. The German Press has opened a barrage of abuse of the British policy in Palestine. The Nazj organ, the Volkischer BeobatcheTj declares that the "Union Jack is waving viGtoriously over a scene of desolation and horror, which is Britain's idea of world peace." A message from Jerusalem states that tbe curfew order has been rescinded, this indicating that the authorities regard the situation as greatly jmproved. A new Arab Higher Committee is reported as being formed in Syria, where the presence of the Grand Mufti is perturbing the French authorities, who are expected to act vigorously ifhe engages in anti-British aetivities. The Black Watch blew up three houses at Daharia as punishment for an Arab attack on the police station yesterday. Uniess tbe Arabs surrender arms there will be -further punitive measures. The British are using women searchers to overcome the Arab's ruse of hiding arms in the clothing of women, who are regarded as untouchable. A Paris report states that the French Press is giving serious attention to the situation in Palestine and is alarmed at the rjse of pan-Arabism, which Signor Mussolini is said to be exploiting against England and France. Several French newspapers say that the 1 authorities cannot keep the Grand Muftj in French territory, but should *•- port hira to a safe place or hand hira over to the British. .
