Small Japanese Gain CHINESE CONSUL'S 'ADVICES

WELLINGTON, This Day. The following cahlegram from Nanking has been received by the Chinese consul: — "The Japanese made a small gain wcst of the Liuhang-Dazang highway. Tliirty tanks supporting another Japanese column pushed eastward. There was severe fighting to the left of Wentsaopang. The Chinese successfully held their line and the Japanese were driven baclc. "The Japanese have resumed their aetivities in the Lotien area. Quiet reigns on the Chapei front. The Japanese bombed Dazang, Chenju, Pootung and tlie Sungkiang station and Ilungjao bridge."
