Napier Children's Escapade Tke actions of ckildren in Clyde road, Napier, wko kad caueed considerablf damage to tke road ou one of tk« Napier Secondary Education Board '» properties, caused some amuedment to members when described by the secretary, Mr W. L. Dunn, at the board meeting last evening. Tke fact .tkat one of tke offenders was away from sckool "ill" added to the amusement, "We got a complaint this morning about tkese children letting off crackerp and causing a nuisancet someone askxug tke board wfiy they were not at school," said Mr Dunn. "An offieer of tke board went up 'to look into tkt matter and wae greeted witk a request for 'a penny for tke guy.' One of tke boys was away from sckool, euppofled to be ill "We then were called upon to iavestigate a complaint from tke Napier Borougk Council about tke road being undermined, and an offieer went up again tkis aftemoon. He thought tka children kad been given a fright to the morning and would be quiet, but it was found tkat tkey kad got some pennies for tkeir guy and invested them to fireworks. Tke offieer was greeted on arrival witk crackers. "He found tkat tke trouble wai caused by tkese ckildren, five of whom are under sckool age, burrowtog into tke bank, and lighting a fire to the hole tkey kad made. Tke smoke was coming up through tke road, and it is going te cost about £18 to repair the damage,/*
