Though the journey was a short oue it was not witlxout its thrills for, just , as the frigbtened animal approached the pavement, a motor ca»- was driven into the right-of-way. The driver of the car sweryed sharply to the left ahd the horse, though uncontrollcd, swerved to its left but the hub of the cart crashed.into the rear mudguard of tbe motor vehicle. Continuing its journey the horse just grazed * telegraph pole but not so the csjrt, one wheel of which went one _/- side of the post while the renxainder of the vehicle went the other with the result that it became jammed an'd the horse was thrown Ixeavily to the ground. The fall, while in no way injuring the animal, 6ufficed to stop its headlong flight and it offered no resistance to those who sought to clear it of the eutangled reins aud harnoss.
