WAIPUKURAU COUNCIL'S -i MEETING

WAIPUKURAU, Last Nigbt. Tliis evening, at tbe montbly meeting of the Waipukurau Borougb Council, the Mayor. Mr I. W. N. Mackie, presided over Ora. R. W. Carpenter, J. L. Brathwaite, H. A. Martin G J. Bromell, J. C. Wiudle, J. McOarthy and the clerk-engineer, Mt H. R. Smart. The Napier Bordugb Council wrpte apologising for delay in connection with the hoavy - traffic fees allocated for 1936-37, stating. that the countiea had not yet signitied their agreement to the 2-3 : 1-3 basis of apportionment. However, the Napier council had their figures, and on« the assumption that they would agree, had worked out tbe allocation for each borougli. The ouclosed figures sliowed that the amount of allocation to the Waipukurau borough was iS288 5(-. (1-3 of the total for heavy trafflc distriot), and the ainount due to the Napier Borougb as distributmg authority was £390 572 . — Received/ Dealing with the drainage on the urooertv of the J oseph Skidmol'0 - eis-

Railways Department, Wellington, in connection with proposed alterations wherd the railway^ballast siding. Wilson, of. Hatuma, and ask him if he would consent to qttcnd the meeting • on behalf of this part of tbe district. . Accounts totalling £2159 8/4 were passed for payment. Engineer's Report. The clerk-engineer Mr H. B. Smart. reportcd Water ReticUlation : . For the month of Septembef the centrifugal pump ran 165.27 hQurs, used 7437. units of electricity and pumped 3,264,000 gallons of water. For thc ; corresponding period in 1936 the pump ran 199.2 liours, used 8,964 units of electricity and pumped 3,931,200 gallons. One" water connection has been made to servb a new dwelling outside the borougli. Roads and streets : Patching and general maintcnance has been carried but as required, and the roads ^eaerallv are in fair order. Preparation for sealing : Russsll street and Ra/ilway Esplanade are oeing built up and strengthened where necessary, in preparation for sealing, and as soon as these roads are completed. Northumberland and Kitchener streets will receive attention.
