THIRTY-FIVE KILLED
Terrific Mine Explosion (Received i8, 8.4S a.m.) NB\V YOltK:, oct. 16. A Mulg&ala mefesage states that 35 men wofking at the lowest level in a doal mine were killed by a terrific eXplosion which was believed. to be due tb gas. The autkdtities said the Cxact cause wotild probahly never be known. All the bodies, mdst of which were burned, have been recovered. There is a single known survivor who was working at a distancfe frdm Iids comrades. Wives and children gathered at the entrance to the mine, but their hopes were quickly dispelled by a telephone report ffoto the reecue party.
