With the bringing into \jse of this brjdge, time comes closer when thp more powerful K-class leconiotive will be used on the line between Napier and ^ Wellington, It. was announced spme time ago that as soon as tho bridges at Waitangi and tho Washout had bepn completed and certain atrengthening works carried out on the line in the vjeinity of Dannevirke, the new epgines would be employed on the 'line. ' It is apticipated that this step may reduce the running time of goods trains betweep Wellington and Napier, and later to Wairoa., bnt a survey of the timetablcs of tho present service will at first be necessary, Good progres§ is beiug made with the othor bridgo op the line between Hastiog* ,*.ud Napier ,
