WAIPAWA, Last Night. Tho Waipawa Sports Club's grounds were opened for , the season's play on Saturday afternoon by the president Mr F. Holt? Rain had fallen during the week and the adverse weather on tlie opening day made the major portion of the grounds not available for ■ play, although two rinks on the bowling green wero ihrown- open. ]\Ir Holt, in declaring the grounds open. expressed pleasure at the Jarge attendanco which augured well for a successful season. The president of the Bowling Club, Mr V. A.' Patterson, unfurled the Cbampionship pennant, which was eoon proudly fluttering at the masth ad. The bowling green was then openc 1, Mrs Patterson sending up the first lowl. The games played resulted as follow: Bainbridge, Holt, Wallace 21; Harwood, Kingston, Walker 11. Harwood, Davy, Clark 18; Larsen. Bainbridge, Parkin 18. The ladies of the club supervised afternoon tea. At a meeting of the committee it was decided to h'old a progressive pairs tournament on Labour Bay.
