ENCOURAGING YOUTH
Suggcsted Votes for Young Anglicans SYNOD DISCUSSION Some discussion took place on the question of extending the right to exereise a vote at annual meetings ot the congregations to young people of 18 years who are coinmuiiicants of. the Chureij of England, at yesterday 's sitting of the Waiapu Diocesan Synod. The llev. K. Liggit stated that the idea had come i'rom the young people of Hastings, who were most mterested in this matter. Archdeacon M. W. Butterfield said that at the mornent those over 21 had the right to exercise a vote without neuessarily being cornmwnicarits. and that this would bring in a younger group who, being comnmnieants, would greaty assist the life of the chnrch. The Rev. H. Speight also approved, and added that it would encourage the voung people to accept offices on vestries and even, perhaps. in Synod. Synod decided that this matter >nould be referred to the standing gommittees of other dioceoes for favourable consideratioii and renort.
