MRS. ELIZABETH HERCUS

The death occurred at Dunedin on Thursday of Mrs. Elizabetli Hercus, widow of Mr. George Robertson Hercus. She was born at Lyoster, Caithness, Scotland, on November 6, 1847, and at the age of 17 came to New Zealand to join two. of her brothers at Maheno. She was married in 1869, and went to Dunedin, where she had lived ever since. She was an aetive member of the Hanover Street Baptist Church for 40 years. Mrs. Hercus is survived by three doughters,' Mrs. R. D. Sutherland (Hastings), Mrs. James Ings (Auckland) and Miss Hercus, and two sons. Mr. S. C. Hercus (Dunedin), and Dr. E. O. Hercus (Melbourne Cniversity). '
