Successful Event At Havelock North .. results of competitions The field day. held tmder the auspices of the Pukahu branch of ' the Farmers' Union on Mr R. A." Nimon's farm, Middle road, Havelock North, to-day provided .Ihe- large attendance of farmers with a;" variety - of interest. The branch is to-.- bo commended upon its enterprise, th8 day being most successful. The grounds were ideal for the purpose and the unfavourabie weather in ho way marred the proceedings. The . coinpetition - for . various sfieep classes. was most interesting, in whidh satisfactory entries wero received. Husheer of tlie National To* bacco Factory, for pen fat lambs: Mr R. E. Talbot. Good ontries wero also received in the class for the best collio dog which was won by Mr H. Thompson 's Toy, Mr R. Gilbertson 's Jack being • second. Mr Eric McLeod, of Twyford, who judged this class, said that a fine lot of useful dogs had been entered. In thp afternoon talks were given by Mr Wallace Tod op the Romney sheep, Oy Mr W. Tucker on the preparation of wool and by Mr F. R. McPhail on tbe chilled beef industry. The talks. which were: most instructive. wore greatly appreeiated. " Luncheon and afternoon tea was served by the ladies, whose catering was -commendablc. . This evening the tropbies are to be pr^ponted to the successful eompetitors at a social to be held in the Pukahu hall.
