Monthly - Meeting of Executive The monthly meeting of' the committee of . the Hastings Returned Soldiers' Association was held last evening, Mr. P. J. Priest presiding over Messrs. P. J. S. George, F. H. Goldfinch, L. J. B. Hammond, h. J. Mackersey, D. S. Mc*Leod, S. I. Jones, C. Prebble, C. G. Wilkinson, W. A. Mclntyre, G. H. Roach, and V. A. Thomson (secretary). Considerable discussion took place on the question of membership. Although there are over 500 names on the register, only, 271 have so far renewed their membership for the current year, and it was decided to make a strong appeal to those who have been members in the past to pay their subscriptions, as it is only by having a large membership that the association can function efficiently in the interests of returned soldiers, particularly those in difficult circumstances. It was decided to invite all former members, as well as unattached returned soldiers in the district, to the next reunion which is to bo held on November 25. A letter was rcceived from the Hastings Borough Council, in reply to an cnquiry, that it was proposed to hold the usual Armistice Day observance at 10.55 a.m. on November 11, and that the co-operation of the R.S.A. would be welcomed. Mr. L. J. Mackersey presented a comprehensive report in connection with the proposed R.S.A. land policy, for which he was thanked. It was decided to give further consideration to this matter at the next monthly ingA statement of receipts . and pay* ments .in connection with the recent ball, sb owing a profit of £70, was . presented by the secretary. It was decided to discuss at the November meeting suggestions for next year'a function.
