Meeting of Waimarama Branch ufting of stock embargo At a meeting of the Waimarama branch of the New Zealand Farmers' Union held last Tuesday at Craggy Eange, the chairman, Mr. E. K. Campbell, presided over a good attendance of members. As additional infqrmation had come to. hand in regard to the f oot and mouth disease embargo, furthcr consideration was. given to this matter and after a very full discussion the following resolution was unanimously carried: — "That this meeting is in favour of the lifting of the embargo of live stock from the United EIillgdom.,, Mr. W. Tucker gave a talk and demonstration on wool. He stressod the need of efficiency in the shod, especially in view of added costs. He gave a practical demonstration of skirting and rolling the fleeces, also the placing .of the fleeces in bales, the method be. ing quite different from the one usually adopted. Mr. Tucker said that in a number of cases in smaller sheds, they were usually overloaded with shed-hands, and he pointed out that a considerable saving could he effected by the employment of one or two less. He also demonstrated tho method of judging. fleeces at shows in connection with the assessment of points, and gavo figures to show the advantage of scouring second pieces, locks, bellies and aingy i^ool. At the conclusion of tho demonstration Mr. Tucker answered a number of questions put to hira by different members. A cup of tea kindly provided by Mr. Derick van Asch was thoroughly e»joyed by the members. Yotes of thanks by acclamation were accorded Mr. Tucker for his demonstration and to Mr. van Asch for lending his woolshed for the occasion.
