Elderly Oraper Attacked and Bound

INVERCARGILL, Last Night. Attacked by two men when, walking from the side door of his draper's'.shop in Ellee xoad south to-night, Thomas William Richards, an elderly man, was knockod into a semi-conscious condition and his hands were tied behind his back. The intruders ther rifled two tilla in the shop and escaped with a small sum of Ynoney, They also have the key of the safe, and it waa not known to-night whether anything had been taken from it. Richards was discovered by his wife lying in the shop at half past nine, about 20 minutes after the assault took place. He is suffering from bruiees on the mouth and wrists where they had been tied and from shock, but his condition is not serious. Richards did not not see the men who attacked hinj. His wife, who waa in the house, which is separated from the shop by a right of way, heard someone Tunning away and a few minutes later was attracted to the shop by a peculiar noise. On going to investigate she found her husband, who was recovering eonsciousness. * • ■t
