The export value of our produce rose from £2,744,770 in 1909 to reach a peak of £20,245,490 , in 1928-29. Last year, although the value of our total dairy export was ^)elow that of the boom year, the output was higher by 160,440cwt., showing that the industry has continued to advance in the f ace of adverse circumstances. ~ - The most significant factor assoeiated with the history of dairying in the Dominion is that the Dominion in 1935 first figured as the world's largest exporter of both butter and cheese. Of the imports into the United Kingdom in 1935 New Zealand supplied 27 per cent. of the butter and 65 per cent. of the cheese. , Last year the Dominion supplied 29 per cen$.-of the butter and 63 per cent. of the cheese.
