TIMARU, TkiB Day. The spring meeting of the South Canterbury Jockey Club opened. at the Washdyke course to-day in the presence of a good attendance. The track is in excellent order. The weather conditions are' favourable. Results:— Ataio Hurdles.— 2/3 SUPEREX (W. Hogan) 1, 5/4 Fireguard (R. Beale) 2, 1/1 Silver Sight (E. Ridgway) 3. Won by a head, third horse a similar distance away. Time, 2.43 3-5.
